Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• On Call/Call Back: May be placed on call during low census; minimum 2-hour call back pay

Unit Information

• 36-bed Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care Unit
• Heavy telemetry patient population
• Patient conditions include: stable and weaning ventilators/tracheostomies, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy care, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, stroke
• Patient ratio: 4:1 (including patients on insulin drips)
• Float requirements: May float to all inpatient units, typically higher acuity units

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience required (firm)
  • Stepdown/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit experience required
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy care experience required
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel contract required
• Charting: EPIC charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Must be able to work independently, manage change well, and complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy (mandatory compliance)
• Contractors must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (radius rule expired)

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with intermediate care skills who have prior travel experience and are comfortable working in a dynamic, high-acuity environment.
