Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend (EOW)
Unit: Medical Telemetry (37 beds)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a 37-bed medical telemetry unit caring for patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
• Patient population includes CHF, Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, Pneumonia, alcohol-related conditions, dementia with cardiac co-morbidities, and occasional surgical patients.
• Patients may be admitted from the Emergency Department, other units, or directly by physicians.
• Care involves managing cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin.
• Experience with post-cardiac catheterization and post-pacemaker care is beneficial but not required.
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Floating to other applicable units may be required.
• Night shift ratio: 1 RN to 5-6 patients.
• EMR system used: EPIC.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

• Free on-site parking available.
• Bed configuration includes private, semi-private, triple, quadruple, and one negative pressure room.
• Day and evening shifts have a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 (max 5), with a charge nurse on weekdays.
• Rotation for day shifts may include 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a shifts, but rotation frequency is low.
• Night shifts are fixed and do not rotate.

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with cardiac patients and telemetry monitoring, seeking a night shift role on a medical telemetry unit.
