Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CST)

Location: Cheraw, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)

Job Description

• Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
• Provide routine and semi-complex nursing care to peri-operative patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for each surgical intervention.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to meet patients’ surgical healthcare needs.
• Clean, prepare, assemble, and store operating room equipment.
• Work with procurement to inventory and stock supply cabinets.

Required Certifications and Credentials

• NBSTSA Certification: Required (only certification recognized in South Carolina for CST).
• BLS (AHA only): Required.
• License/Certificate Verification: State-specific license verification required.
• Driver’s License/State ID: Valid copy required.
• Social Security Card: Copy required.

Required Health and Immunization Documentation

• MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted).
• Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted).
• Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted).
• 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): 1st within 1 year, 2nd within 30 days of start; negative Q-Gold or Tspot acceptable if within 90 days prior to start.
• Drug Screen: 10 panel drug screening completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted).

Optional but recommended:

• Fit Test (required for travelers with mask/model, completed within a year of start).
• Influenza Vaccine (required Sept-April; exemptions considered case-by-case).
• Annual Negative PPD, Annual TB Questionnaire, Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray (if applicable).

Professional Requirements

• Criminal Background Check covering last 7 years, including multiple searches (county, statewide, national, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS Trace, education verification), done within 60 days of start and updated annually.
• Employment Verification for past 5 years.
• Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually.
• Confirmation of Assignment: Standard form required.
• Resume/Profile submission required; references preferred but not mandatory.
