Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on Medical Surgical and Telemetry units.
  • Deliver care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Patient populations include Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
  • Must self-study telemetry strips before starting; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue on the unit.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Estimated work week: 36 hours with possible overtime.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (AHA or ARC acceptable) – Required before onboarding
  • ACLS – Required before onboarding
  • Professional Nursing License – Primary source verification required within 30 days of start (e.g., BON & NURSYS for RNs)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Influenza vaccine or facility declination (due annually by 12/01; season Sept 1 – March 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declination accepted
  • TB Test: Negative test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG) or documentation if history of positive test
  • Fit Test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
  • Health Statement from physician within last 12 months

Background & Compliance

  • Background check within 30 days of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender)
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance (state requirement)
  • Education verification through third party; diploma/transcripts if needed
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG screening within 30 days of start
  • Drug screen (10 panel) within 30 days of start; THC not required
  • Social Security Number Inquiry (SING) within 30 days of start
  • OFAC screening within 30 days of start
  • Name change documents (optional)
  • I-9 attestation (completed on agency letterhead)
  • Color vision test
  • OSHA questionnaire (candidate completes)
  • Contract employee data sheet
  • Resume or professional profile required for submission
  • Two professional references required for submission (one must be from a supervisor)

Additional Requirements

  • Complete GRH Skills Checklist within 12 months (does not expire)
  • BD Screening Attestation
  • Pre-orientation computer-based learning (CBL) acknowledgement form
  • Driver’s License or State ID (unexpired government-issued photo ID)
  • Evergreen Link attestation for system access (to be completed within 48 hours of offer acceptance)

This position is ideal for RNs with Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience who hold current ACLS and BLS certifications and meet the outlined health and compliance requirements.
