Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – GI Lab / Endoscopy

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients for a designated timeframe. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing ongoing and systematic patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status
  • Analyzing assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses
  • Identifying individualized expected patient outcomes
  • Formulating and prioritizing goal-directed plans of care
  • Implementing nursing care skillfully and consistently
  • Documenting care accurately and timely
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of care and contributing factors
  • Functioning with awareness of safety issues and emergency protocols
  • Demonstrating sound knowledge and decision-making for patient populations
  • Following all nursing policies and procedures
  • Incorporating hourly rounding into daily practice
  • Maintaining professional accountability and legal awareness
  • Participating in staff development and continuing education
  • Collaborating effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families
  • Demonstrating ethical decision-making and sensitivity to patient rights
  • Staying current with nursing research and applying findings as appropriate
  • Prioritizing patient care based on needs and available resources

Required Credentials & Compliance

  • State Nursing License: Verification completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Skills Checklist: Unit-specific, fully completed and updated annually
  • Core Competency Exam: Must score 80% or higher on required nursing core competencies
  • Health Requirements:
    • COVID-19 Vaccine (optional, or agency declination)
    • MMR: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required
    • Fit Test: Annual, completed within last 12 months
    • Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or declination form required
    • Influenza Vaccine: Required or declination with mask-wearing during assignment
    • TB Test: Annual testing with specific requirements for skin or blood tests; follow-up for past positives
    • Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required
    • Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years or declination form
    • Physical/Health Statement: Within last 12 months, including vitals and physician approval
  • Professional Requirements:
    • Valid US Driver’s License or State ID (not expired)
    • Background Check: Must be run within 30 days of start, including multiple county and national checks
    • Drug Screen: Within 30 days of start, testing for specified substances (marijuana testing prohibited by NY state)
    • Resume: Complete employment and education history for last 7 years
    • Professional References: Two required (one within last 12 months, one within last 3 years)
    • Employment and Education Verifications as applicable
    • Various signed forms and acknowledgments related to job description, code of conduct, sexual harassment, parking, and assignment confirmation
