Job Opportunity: Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position for an Adult Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Some NICU/Pediatric experience is desired but not required.
  • Expected to perform 6-8 echocardiograms per shift.
  • Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Weekend call rotation: 1 in 6.
  • Weekend call shift starts Friday at 4:00 PM through Monday at 7:00 AM, with a Saturday shift from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
  • One evening call night per week; the staff member on weekend call does not have a weekday call shift.

Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (AHA American Heart Association) – required before start.
  • ARDMS (Cardiac Sonographer, Ultrasound Tech) – required before start.
  • State License Verification – completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • License/Certificate Verification – completed within 30 days prior to start.

Professional Requirements

  • Completion of the facility-specific skills checklist for the assigned unit (updated annually).
  • Passing score (80% or higher) on Core Competency Exams relevant to the role.
  • Valid, unexpired US Driver’s License or State ID.
  • Signed and dated job description.
  • Employment verification of most recent employer.
  • Two professional references: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 years.
  • Background checks including agency and internal checks, plus 7 instant background checks as required.
  • Completion of facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (Code of Conduct, Sexual Harassment Acknowledgement, Parking Registration, Confirmation of Assignment, Self Study Packet and Quiz).
  • Submission of a recent color headshot (JPEG, straightforward, no filters).
  • Submission of a detailed resume covering the last 7 years with education and employment history.
  • Completion of the facility Epic Questionnaire (required form).

Personal Health & Immunizations

  • COVID-19 vaccine proof or agency declination (optional).
  • MMR: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination documentation required.
  • Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination documentation required.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or facility-specific declination form required.
  • Influenza vaccine or facility-specific declination form required; if declined, mask must be worn at all times.
  • Tdap preferred but not required; if no record, facility-specific declination form required.
  • TB Test: Must have one of the following within required timeframes: two PPD skin tests (one within 12 months, one within 3 months), or one Quantiferon/Spot test within 12 months. Past positives require chest x-ray within 12 months. Annual requirement.
  • Fit Test: Must be completed prior to start and within the last 12 months. Specific approved mask models required. On-site fit testing available if needed.
  • Physical/Health Statement: Must be from within the last 12 months, include physician credentials, clinic location, phone number, height, weight, vitals, Snellen eye chart, and a statement of clearance with no restrictions.

Drug Screening

  • Agency drug screen required within 30 days of start.
  • Must test for Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methadone, Methaqualone, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Propoxyphene.
  • Marijuana testing is not permitted per New York state regulations.
