Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Job Description

• Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
• Coordinate care across multiple disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
• Execute physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Knowledge and/or certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

• Must complete and maintain various Ascension-specific documentation and attestations.
• Optional: Unit-specific checklist and badge photo.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
• Critical thinking and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, stressful environment are essential.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs comfortable with telemetry patients and working night shifts in a hospital setting.
