Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Job Description

• Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; assess and communicate patient conditions.
• Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient management.
• Execute physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.

Required Qualifications

• License: Current RN license verified through Nursys within 30 days prior to assignment start.
• Experience: Minimum years of experience in Emergency Room nursing as required (not explicitly stated, assume standard for specialty).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • NRP (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), renewed every 4 years
  • NIH Certification (Group A yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)
• Testing and Competency:

  • Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
  • Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics, updated every 3 years
  • EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
  • Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
  • Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation prior to assignment
• Health Requirements:

  • Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • 2-step PPD or IGRA testing with recent negative results and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
  • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Professional Requirements:

  • Resume/profile submission required
  • Two professional references required prior to first assignment
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
  • Employment verification for past seven years, updated annually
• Additional Onboarding:

  • Signed assignment agreement prior to onboarding
  • Completion of non-violent crisis intervention training (CPI), 8-hour course updated every 2 years
  • Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding onsite
  • Completion of pre-hire modules including Nova StatStrip
  • Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
