Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans; assess and communicate patient conditions.
- Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient management.
- Execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- License: Current RN license verified through Nursys within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Experience: Minimum years of experience in Emergency Room nursing as required (not explicitly stated, assume standard for specialty).
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
- NRP (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), renewed every 4 years
- NIH Certification (Group A yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)
- Testing and Competency:
- Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics, updated every 3 years
- EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
- Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation prior to assignment
- Health Requirements:
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- 2-step PPD or IGRA testing with recent negative results and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Professional Requirements:
- Resume/profile submission required
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Employment verification for past seven years, updated annually
- Additional Onboarding:
- Signed assignment agreement prior to onboarding
- Completion of non-violent crisis intervention training (CPI), 8-hour course updated every 2 years
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding onsite
- Completion of pre-hire modules including Nova StatStrip
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
