Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 24-bed progressive care unit serving adult progressive surgical, oncology, palliative care, and progressive acute care patients receiving chemotherapy.
- Patient care involves drips on all floors.
- Charting system: EPIC experience required.
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including potential float to other units such as Neuro, Trauma, Observation, and others.
- Care team includes CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
- 100% nicotine-free facility.
Work Schedule
- Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts.
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period.
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday.
- Weekend nights: Friday night and Saturday night.
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- RTO (Request Time Off) allowed up to two weeks, with restrictions.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start).
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital.
- EPIC charting experience required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
- Must be located more than 100 miles from the facility (no locals accepted).
- Must wear facility-specific scrubs (Steele gray scrubs required).
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified.
- Other certifications as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP) depending on unit assignment.
- Background checks, drug screening, and health document compliance required.
- Immunizations and health screenings required, including:
- Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years.
- Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers.
- Hepatitis B titer or declination.
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer.
- Flu vaccine documentation preferred.
- COVID vaccine preferred (exemptions accepted).
- Physical exam and fit mask test required annually.
- Eye exam required if working in the OR (not typical for this unit).

- Background checks include multiple county and nationwide screenings.
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required.
- Skills checklist and references required.
- Parking permits available (approximate cost $55/month) or daily parking options.
