Job Overview
- Position is for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry Registered Nurse.
- The unit functions as a telemetry unit but the patient acuity level is PCU.
- Patient ratios typically 1:4-5.
- Shift: Travelers are scheduled primarily on one shift (day or night) without shift preference.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; flexibility required.
- Holidays: Working on holidays is mandatory; specific dates determined by unit needs.
- Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed.
- Floating: Must be willing to float within scope to Med-Surg and ED Tele overflow as needed. No ICU patient care outside scope.
- Locals (residents of Guam) are not eligible.
- Passport in hand is required for travel.
- Flights are not reimbursed; travelers should plan accordingly.
- Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts based on census.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
- Preferred 3-5 years of experience.
- First-time travelers are not accepted.
Required Licensure & Certifications
- Must have Compact or Guam RN licensure in hand at time of application.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider card required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider card required.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, Conscious Sedation) but primary requirements are ACLS and BLS.
- All certifications must be current; candidates with expiring certifications within 6 months must renew before start (renewals can be done onsite).
Additional Requirements
- Passport required for travel.
- Background check within 1 year, including criminal and international searches if applicable.
- Drug screen (9-panel) within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency).
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start; must use approved masks or be fit tested onsite.
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (mandatory during flu season), COVID vaccine strongly preferred (medical exemptions considered).
- Facility-specific training modules required (e.g., Pressure Injury Training, NIH Stroke Scale, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis CareFusion).
- Onsite pass/fail testing during orientation: drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT).
- Must be willing to comply with facility scheduling rules including no shift or holiday preferences.
- Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved before contract start; max 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, max 7 total days.
Work Environment
- Acute care facility with adult trauma level II designation.
- 132 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise.
- Free parking available for travelers (registration required).
- Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; other solid colors acceptable.
Notes for Candidates
- Travelers must plan to arrive at least one day before the start date due to long flight times and time zone differences.
- Travelers will be scheduled through the last day of the contract and should not book return flights before contract completion.
- Must be flexible to support unit needs including floating to other units within scope.
- No pending licenses accepted; all licensure must be verified prior to start.
- Prior travel experience is required (first-time travelers not accepted).
