Job Description

• Minimum 2+ years of recent Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience required.
• Experience with fresh heart transplants is mandatory.
• Patient ratio typically 1:2; uses Meditech EMR system.
• Must be able to float within scope of practice.
• Every other weekend shift required.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Schedule generally follows a 36/48 hour pattern over two weeks (may fluctuate based on census and call-ins).
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Additional Requirements

• Must provide 2 professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor or higher; Charge RN acceptable for one reference).
• Complete employment application/resume with education and work history.
• 7-year work history verification required (third-party verification preferred; attestation letters acceptable if verification attempts fail).
• Annual physical exam or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, indicating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Required immunizations and health documentation including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted)
  • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year)
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must be applied for within 48 hours of offer acceptance)
• Drug testing within 30 days of start date using a specific 9-panel expanded opiates bundle (no THC). Annual updates required.
• Fit mask testing completed onsite (PAPRs not accommodated; exemptions reviewed onsite).
• Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, county searches for last 7 years, and federal exclusions lists. Must be completed within 30 days prior to start.
• Competency exams required annually or within one year prior to start:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (not required for Psych, OR, Rehab, or Med Surg units)
  • Core competencies Part I, II, and III

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
