Job Opportunity: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse - Nights

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (night shift)
Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:1 to 1:2
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (Registered Nurse specialty)
Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not required

Required Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certification only
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA certification only
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Other certifications may be required depending on unit

Required Skills and Competencies

Proficient in IV starts
Experience with telemetry monitoring
Competency with ventilators
Proficiency in EPIC electronic documentation system (required)
Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
Unit-specific competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual renewal required)

License Requirements

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
License verification required within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification required for RNs

Background and Health Requirements

7-year criminal background check including FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI/FBI) completed within 1 year of start
Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership
Employment application and skills checklist required
Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Minimum 2 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Competency with ventilators
Experience with Epic electronic documentation system

No on-call duties for this position
