Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Medical Surgical Days
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Weekend Requirement: Required
  • Float Requirement: Yes, within scope
  • On Call: None
  • Block Scheduling: Case by case
  • Documentation System: EPIC (experience preferred)
  • Unit Size: 25 beds
  • Scrub Color: Navy

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oklahoma
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as applicable
  • Chemotherapy certification as applicable
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as applicable
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online) required
  • Competency Exams as applicable (minimum 80% passing score or meet/exceed Angoff score)

Experience

  • 2 years nursing experience preferred in Medical Surgical specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications & Licenses

  • Current RN license in Oklahoma (primary source verification required)
  • BLS certification required
  • Other certifications as applicable (see above)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination)
    • Varicella (or documented history)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Background & Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification required (highest level)
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Driver’s license or state ID required
  • I9 and E-Verify compliance required
  • Photo for badge required
  • Completion of skills checklist annually
  • Completion of employment application/resume required

Additional Information

  • Ratios and scheduling may be adjusted case by case
  • Return to work parameters require manager approval
  • No on-call requirement
  • Float within scope of practice required
