Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia

Contract Length

• 14 weeks

Specialty & Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Required Years of Experience: 2 years minimum
• Prior travel experience: Not required (1st timers accepted)

Patient Population

• Adults to Geriatrics

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (refer to unit description for requirement)

Clinical Skills & Work Environment

• Common Diagnoses: ARDS, Sepsis, Stroke, STEMI, DKA, Post-op complications, Cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, Liver failure, Drug overdose, ESRD on CRRT
• Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 (may take a 3rd patient)
• Unit Size: 24 rooms, average daily census 19
• Unit Systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice
• Scheduling: Block scheduling not guaranteed; weekends every other weekend
• Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation schedule
• Clinical screening required to determine fit before final approval

Orientation

• Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)

Required Documents & Verifications

• Valid State RN License (Georgia)
• Background Check (within 30 days of start, must be complete prior to start)
• Education Verification (degree verification required; can be pending with proof of processing)
• Physical Exam (within 12 months)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months) and annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations:

  • MMR (2 doses or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 doses or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody titer or signed declination)
  • TDAP (highly recommended but not required)
  • Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
• Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• References: 2 clinical references required
• Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)

Competency Exams (Aya required)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Color Blind Testing Online
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU and related units; 3 attempts allowed)
• General Competency Exam

Additional Notes

• No travel pairs allowed regardless of unit
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations
