Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED) facility.
  • High patient volume with patient ratios that may stretch to 1:5 or more during surge periods (no guaranteed 1:4 ratio).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
  • Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete and maintain:
    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ER staff)
    • Color Blind Testing
    • Harassment Prevention Training (New York specific)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (N95 or equivalent).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination during flu season
    • Pneumonia vaccination or declination
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start.
  • Background checks including 7-year work/living history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions.
  • Professional references: 2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles (within 3 years).

  • Locals are accepted for a local bill rate.
  • Candidates must complete online orientation modules prior to the first shift.
