Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVPICU) - Columbus, Ohio

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Weekend only option (Friday through Sunday)

Job Description

  • Must be willing to float to various units including NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical as needed.
  • Floating is required for most positions.
  • Appropriate assignments will be given in these areas.

Required Experience

  • Prefer close to 2 years of experience in specialty (Registered Nurse).
  • Required years of experience: 2 years (based on preference stated).

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Licensure

  • Ohio State or Compact RN license required.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • 2 supervisory references required (1 must be a supervisor/manager titled reference).
  • Current government-issued photo ID.
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including every county lived or worked).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification (standalone verification through National Student Clearing House).
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract.
  • Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, and State Abuse Registry searches within 30 days of start.
  • Required certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – required for NICU RNs
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • State License verification within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification for RNs within 30 days of start.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
  • Competency Exam as applicable.

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam (must be free of communicable diseases; no longer requires copy if Infection Control Policy signed).
  • Infection Control Policy review and signature prior to start.
  • Fit mask (N95) testing required within 1 year of start; annual updates required.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
  • TB testing options:
    • 2 PPDs (first within 12 months, second within 90 days), or
    • QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months (IGRA acceptable if no TB signs or international travel).
    • For positive TB results, additional documentation and treatment required.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required (October 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declination or proof of vaccine series/titer acceptable)
    • Varicella

Additional Requirements

  • Unit-specific skills checklist required; updated annually.
  • Copy of resume or employment application required.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Affiliating Health Record must be completed.
  • Fingerprint screening questions must be completed prior to start.
  • Flu exemption policy applies to candidates with approved exemptions; mask wearing required during flu season.

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with pediatric critical care experience who are flexible with floating to multiple units and available for weekend shifts. Compliance with extensive background checks, certifications, and health requirements is mandatory.
