Job Opportunity: Med Surg PCU Registered Nurse

Location: Monticello, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Med Surg PCU (Medical-Surgical Progressive Care Unit)
• Required Experience: Minimum 1.5 years in specialty
• First-time travelers accepted if they have experience
• Float required with MS/PCU float ratios of 1:5
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Shift options:

  • 8 and 10 hour shifts (40 hours/week)
  • 3 twelve-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
  • 4 twelve-hour shifts (48 hours/week)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Indiana RN license (must be in hand before start; no pending licenses accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, TNCC, EFM)

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including within the last year
• Experience in PCU - Progressive Care Unit
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Peripheral line care and management
• Non-invasive airway management
• Adherence to isolation precautions

Additional Requirements

• Must have valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
• Background checks including 7-year history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • TB test within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no exemptions)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no exemptions)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam
• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years)
• Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
