Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a strong background in complex gastroenterology procedures, including ERCP cases. The RN will be responsible for managing nursing care from admission to discharge, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and disease prevention, and responding to medical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate nursing care, ensuring competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care.
- Perform patient assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors.
- Administer treatments, medications, and nursing skills timely and accurately.
- Serve as liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate collaborative patient care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Respond to medical and environmental emergencies efficiently and calmly.
- Monitor patient acuity and communicate significant changes to physicians.
Work Schedule
- Variable shift start time between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: As needed
Required Certifications
- California RN License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
- Prior travel experience: 6 months (travel experience preferred but not explicitly required)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law) within 6 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
- Completion of facility-specific documents including job description review, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreements, and regulatory orientation
Additional Requirements
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps in employment
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG)
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical positions (Aya requirement only)
Notes
- Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Must be able to coordinate care with multiple healthcare team members and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
