Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Middletown, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts

• Call Requirements: Minimum 1-2 days per week and at least one weekend per month (Friday-Sunday), plus heart call as assigned

• Work Environment: 8 Operating Room (OR) suites

• Role Overview:

  • Provide professional nursing care in a cardiovascular operating room setting
  • Manage a caseload of patients according to the scope of practice
  • Coordinate and direct care delivered by the interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure compliance with Ohio Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and institutional policies
  • Provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support impacting patient outcomes
  • May function independently or as a team member and charge nurse as assigned
  • Adapt to changing environments and emergency situations

• Floating Requirements:

  • May be required to float between two hospital locations within the system

Qualifications

• Education: BSN required or Associate Degree in Nursing (AND)
• Licensure: Valid Ohio Registered Nurse License
• Certifications:

  • Current CPR required
  • ACLS certification required
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of OR experience (highest required)
• Skills:

  • Experience working with acutely ill patients, including emergencies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Practice consistent with Ohio Board of Nursing standards
• Electronic Medical Record: Experience with EPIC system preferred

Required Documentation & Compliance

• I-9 and E-Verify forms
• Government-issued photo ID
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification (Primary source for non-RN candidates)
• Drug screening (9 or 10 panel, including marijuana) within 12 months
• Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for work
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years (1 must be manager/supervisor/charge nurse)
• Skills checklist updated within 1 year
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and unit-specific exams

Certifications & Competencies Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Current CPR
• Other certifications as applicable based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 2 years)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (within 1 year or completed within 72 hours of contract signing)

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Floating between facilities may be required at the employer’s discretion.
• Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, acute care environment with critically ill patients.
