Job Opportunity: PCU Float Registered Nurse

Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Float position covering PCU MS/Tele, ED observation, med/surg, PCU, and rehab units.
• Requires 1.5 years of Registered Nurse experience.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Position is physically active: involves ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses is routine.
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
• Rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather work required.
• Must be able to:

  • Work full contract term at assigned location
  • Work substantial portion of assigned shifts
  • Take call
  • Work assigned weekends
  • Work at least 50% of holidays during contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including PCU experience within the last year.
• Experience in Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical (Med Surg), and Rehabilitation units.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Compliance Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG exclusions.
• State-specific background and caregiver registry checks required.
• Drug screening (7-panel negative within 60 days).
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or approved exemption)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (updated annually)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or immunity (declinations not accepted for new candidates)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask types required).

Additional Requirements

• Professional references (2 within last 2 years).
• Resume with at least 7 years of employment history, no gaps over 30 days.
• Completion of orientation and competency exams as applicable.
• Ability to provide photo for badge (new candidates only).
• Compliance with facility-specific forms and agreements (e.g., confidentiality, employment eligibility).

• Exposure to infectious diseases.
• Work includes rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and inclement weather conditions.
