Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular, and Urology
- Preferred Experience: Experience with DaVinci Robots, endovascular procedures, and ophthalmology is a bonus
- Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 5 days a week (8-hour shifts)
- Charting System: Epic experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
Requirements
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid RN license with primary source verification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
- CHEMO certification as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
Background & Verification
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification required (transcript or diploma accepted if verification pending)
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Skills checklist required annually (unit-specific)
Health & Immunization
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if positive)
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (renew annually if positive)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for travel contracts with this facility.
- Clear headshot photo required for badge issuance.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance required.
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests required as applicable.
- Prior travel experience is mandatory for this role.
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with a strong background in multiple surgical specialties and prior travel nursing experience, comfortable working day shifts and using Epic charting software.
