Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tampa, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Role: IR Tech (Interventional Radiology Technician)
  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 07:30 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Daily Caseload: 20-30 cases per tech
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 8-10 call days per month, including one Saturday per month
    • 30-minute response time required
    • On-call sleep rooms available
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs (no floating to sister facilities)
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • First-Timers Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License Accepted: No
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No RTO in contract; may be discussed if applicable
  • Guaranteed Hours: Apply after the first call off per pay period

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • Specialty Experience: Vascular experience required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)

    • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
    • Contrast administration
    • Biopsies
    • Interventional Radiology procedures including:
      • Stents, Ablations, Angioplasty, Angiograms, Nephrogram, Kyphoplasty
      • Peripheral vascular studies
      • Upper and lower extremity, abdominal and pelvic vascular studies
      • Neurological studies and stroke thromectomy IR experience
  • Preferred: Cerner EMR experience
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Required (medical or religious exemptions accepted)

  • Trauma Level: Level II Trauma, Level I Pediatric Trauma
  • Total Staffed Beds: 615
  • Procedure Rooms: 4 (3 with biplane imaging)
  • Equipment: 3 Siemens and 1 GE imaging systems
  • Case Variety: Stroke intervention, neurointerventions, PE thrombectomy & thrombolysis, DVT interventions, pain management, oncology procedures (Y-90, MAAs, chemoembolizations)
  • Scrub Color: Black or Navy
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Included

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Licenses & Verifications:
    • Florida license primary source verification required
    • Background check within 1 year of start (including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
    • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education outside USA or Puerto Rico
    • Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 6 months of start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (annual TB questionnaire required)
    • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (titer or vaccines with boosters as needed)
    • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel within 30 days of start
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination accepted
    • COVID-19 vaccination required (exemptions accepted)
    • Respirator medical clearance if applicable
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
    • Stroke Education CEUs (8 total credits required) including NIH Stroke Certification and mRS (Modified Rankin Scale) certification
    • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) if applicable
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%)
    • Color Blindness test (Relias)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score) for applicable units
  • References: 2 references from past 2 years required
  • Employment Application & Skills Checklist: Required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete required BayCare online training modules prior to start (4-8 hours estimated)
  • Modules must be completed by the Thursday prior to start date
  • Dress code and tobacco policy adherence required
  • Professional photo required for badge issuance prior to start
