Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech Maternal Fetal (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technician with expertise in Maternal Fetal ultrasound, including OB/GYN and general ultrasound imaging.
Schedule & Work Details
- Shifts: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Charting system: Epic required
- On-call: Backup call as needed
- Call-off policy: Facility allows 1 call-off shift per 2 weeks
- Holiday: Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract
- Floating: Yes, variable shifts
- Locals: Not accepted
- First-time travelers: Accepted if they have a minimum of 5 years ultrasound experience
Required Certifications
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Clinical Skills
- Proficient in OB/GYN imaging (all trimesters, fetal anatomical surveys, amniotic fluid index)
- General abdominal imaging (liver, gallbladder, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, abdominal aorta)
- Vascular imaging (aorta)
- Pelvic/genitourinary imaging (bladder, ovaries, uterus, vaginal, renal/bladder)
- Small parts imaging (thyroid, testicles/scrotum, superficial masses)
- Adult and portable studies across various work settings
- Pediatric exam experience preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or attestation
- Driver’s License/State ID with address verification (must be >100 miles from facility)
- E-Verify or attestation
- Background check (7 years, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- Education verification of highest earned degree
- Physical exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Photo for badge (professional, plain background)
- Various facility-specific compliance and orientation documents must be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Must accept and comply with facility’s radius rule for travel distance
- Floating between general and OB/GYN ultrasound duties required
- Pediatric ultrasound experience preferred but not mandatory
- Must work at least one holiday during the contract period
