Schedule

• Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, completed within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association or RQI
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Competencies and Exams

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam: Required for RNs
• Unit-specific competency exam: Required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam: Required for Tele RNs
• Infection control/bloodborne pathogens exam: Required for all clinical candidates. A score of 80% or higher is needed to pass. The CORE exam is not accepted in its place.

Health Requirements

• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start, updated annually
• N95 mask fit test: Within 1 year of start, renewed annually. A PAPR is acceptable only with proof of a failed N95 fit test.
• TB screening: Negative PPD, TSpot, or QGold within 1 year of start. A positive result requires a negative chest X-ray within 4 years and an annual TB questionnaire.
• Measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, and varicella: Positive titer, or 2 vaccines after age 1. Negative or equivocal titers require 2 boosters, and the candidate may start with the second booster pending.
• Hepatitis B: Vaccine series or declination required. A titer is not acceptable.
• Hepatitis C: Titer strongly preferred. A declination is accepted if the reason is stated.
• Tdap: Required. If the candidate cannot get it for a health reason, a Pertussis titer showing immunity is needed.
• Drug screen: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start. An instant drug screen is acceptable. Not updated annually.
• Influenza vaccine: Required by 12/5 for the 2026-27 season. Candidates who decline must sign a declination and follow seasonal masking rules. Candidates not fully vaccinated for COVID-19 must mask on facility grounds.

References and Documents

• References: 2 references within 1 year of start, completed in the current specialty, from a leadership role (department manager, supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, or assistant nurse manager).

• Orientation: Orientation modules must be completed before starting on the floor.
• Signed acknowledgments: HIPAA acknowledgment, the unit job description, the RN orientation packet, the skills self-assessment, the skin care standard of care attestation, the sexual violence and sexual harassment policy, and the traveler acknowledgment.
• Confidentiality agreement: Must be completed within 72 hours of signing.
• Policy reviews: Epidural pain policy review, required before start.
• Abuse and neglect reporting act: Required at Lakewood locations.
