Step Down Nurse

Job Overview

  • Location: San Luis Obispo, California
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00–07:30
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Float requirement: May float to medical-surgical if needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Stepdown (1 year of experience)
  • Stepdown experience within the last year
  • Telemetry experience
  • Experience with Epic

Experience

  • 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience in the last 2 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia Course
  • Completion of a Critical Care Course

Role Summary

  • Provides nursing care in the step-down unit
  • Interprets ECG rhythms and manages care during life-threatening emergencies
  • Supervises and delegates care to ancillary personnel within scope of practice
