Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech

Job Details

• Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts
• Hours: 05:00 - 19:30 (Day shift)
• Call: Required every 3rd week
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years as an IR Tech
• Candidates: First-time travelers accepted only with extensive IR Tech experience
• Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
• Documentation Systems: Cerner, Merge PACS
• Scrubs: Provided (Navy blue for all RNs)

Required Certifications

• ARRT (Radiologic Technologist)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• State License (hard copy required)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification or RQI acceptable
• Additional certifications may be required depending on role and facility policies

Required Skills & Procedures

• Interventional Radiology and Special Procedures
• PACS operation and equipment maintenance
• Stocking supplies
• Aortography, Chest Tube Placement, Embolization
• Gastrostomy Tube Placement
• Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) filter placement/removal
• Inferior vena cavogram, Mesenteric Angiogram
• Paracentesis, Pelvic angiography, Renal Angiography
• Selective visceral angiography, Stent placement
• Superior vena cavogram, Thoracentesis
• Catheter/drain exchange, Cholecystostomy
• Internal/external biliary drainage, Nephrostomy
• Central Venous Access/Port Placement (including non-Tunneled/PICC lines)
• Fluoroscopy, Equipment setup, Prep access site
• Scrubbing and maintaining sterile field
• Isolation Precautions
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Sterile Technique

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks: Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
• Licenses & Certifications: Must be verified and uploaded as required
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (signed by NP, PA, or DO)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual TB questionnaire required)
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required with medical/religious exemptions accepted via facility forms
• Competency Exams: Medication and general competency exams required with minimum passing scores
• References: Minimum 2 professional references required

Additional Facility-Specific Notes

• Scrub color for all RNs is navy blue
• Photo required for badge
• Hand hygiene policy must be reviewed prior to start
• COVID-19 vaccine declination requires completion of specific exemption forms (medical, religious, or deferral)
• Flu exemption forms required if applicable
