Job Opportunity: Pathologist Assistant

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (includes unpaid 45-minute lunch break)
  • 40 hours per week

Job Description

  • Assist in pathology laboratory tasks under supervision
  • Day shift position

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pathologists' Assistant license in New York
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a Pathologist Assistants program
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in Pathology, including Pathologists' Assistant experience within the last year
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Primary Source Verification required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Primary Source Verification required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Primary Source Verification required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 60 days prior to assignment covering all locations lived, worked, or attended school in the past 7 years, including aliases
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Social Security Verification, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List Search within 60 days prior to start
  • Education Verification with primary source verification of all formal education listed
  • Employment Application covering 20 years with no gaps and matching Work History Verification
  • Work History Verification covering 20 years with documentation for any unverifiable periods
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolites, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene). Marijuana testing is excluded.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start including vital signs, review of systems, medical history, and clearance to work without restrictions (statement of good health alone is not accepted)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (specific N95 masks required; PAPRs not accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per specified options
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine strongly encouraged
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: proof of 2 vaccinations or positive IgG titer; if low titer, 2 booster doses required with timing conditions
    • Hepatitis B: Antibody and antigen titers and declination form within 6 months of start
    • Hepatitis C titer within 6 months of start with follow-up documentation if positive
    • Varicella: positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines; boosters required if low titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Sept 3 – May 4) with exemptions requiring approval
  • Annual TB Questionnaire completion required
  • Vision screening (Snellen) within 12 months of start; corrective lenses noted if needed
  • Color blind testing required only if failed online exam twice; in-person Ishihara test with MD signature required if applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Signed confidentiality agreement and staff attestation prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and training modules, including annual required training and prestart modules
  • Compliance with New York State Central Registry and Statewide Exclusion List forms and results as applicable
  • Completion of background check 8-factor analysis if any felony or misdemeanor hits occur
  • References and skills checklist per agency standards
