Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (possible extension)
Shift: Nights (4x12 hour shifts, 7 PM – 7 AM), weekdays and every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
Unit: Inpatient Med Surg or Oncology (Oncology experience preferred but not required)
EMR System: Cerner

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a medical-surgical oncology unit.
• IV start skills required.
• Blocked schedule with consistent night shifts.
• Facility expects high attendance; only 2-3 call-offs tolerated per contract.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during work hours).
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification.
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual).
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within required timeframes).
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, preferred).
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations.
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season).
  • COVID vaccine or declination.
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually.
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules and Cerner EMR training prior to start.
• ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys completed before start date.
• Submission packet must include:

  • Candidate profile/work history
  • Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
  • Minimum 2 clinical references from the past year
  • RN license verification (recently pulled)
  • Copies of all required certifications

Additional Information

• Scrubs are not provided; dress code includes burgundy and/or white attire.
• Workers compensation documentation is preferred but not required.
• Facility requires strict adherence to attendance and compliance policies.

Summary

This is a travel/contract RN position on a medical-surgical oncology unit with night shifts. The role requires at least 1 year of nursing experience, current RN licensure, and specific certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Oncology chemo certification is preferred but not mandatory.
