Registered Nurse – IMC Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
  • Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required.
  • Units require Telemetry experience in oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings.
  • Ventilator and transplant patient care experience needed.
  • Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year of Intermediate Care experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Mechanical ventilator management experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • Transplant patient care experience

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace and nationwide sex offender search.
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form required within 90 days of start.
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols.
  • Physical exam collected to meet agency standards (not facility required).

Certifications & Testing

  • BLS & ACLS (AHA only), with renewal plans finalized by the 15th of the month prior to expiration.
  • Telemetry Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required:
    • Must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start and updated annually.
    • Candidates allowed 3 attempts with remediation after 2nd failure.
    • Failure after 3rd attempt results in contract cancellation.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
  • TB Questionnaire required annually.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
  • Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form required for direct patient care providers.
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (09/22 – 04/13).
  • Other vaccines (e.g., Meningococcal) required if working in specific departments (not applicable here).

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge: Passport-style photo required (no selfies, headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start.
  • Completion of any required exemption forms for vaccines if applicable.
  • Skills checklist and employment application required annually.
  • References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required by agency standard.
