Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Scrubs provided
• Surgical cases include all except transplants and open heart; robotics cases included
• High volume of orthopedic cases, especially total joint surgeries
• Multidisciplinary provider support available 24/7 (Intensivist, NP, Hospitalist, Anesthesiologist)
• Additional support services: Interpretation, Lift Teams, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Rapid Response, Respiratory, Social Services, Transportation, Unit Secretary
• Omnicell medication system used
• SBAR communication protocol followed
• On-call required every third weekend
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles away from the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification
• Circulate experience in the Operating Room
• Experience with MEDITECH documentation system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or Passport)
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
• Signed acknowledgments for safety manual, abuse reporting, confidentiality, code of conduct, employee handbook, sexual harassment, and other facility policies
• Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually
• Fit mask testing with approved masks prior to start; no facial hair allowed that interferes with seal
• Immunizations and titers required within 90 days of start (or 1 year for per diem):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (updated every 10 years or declination with mask requirement)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot) or chest X-ray if past positive, updated annually
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella titers or vaccinations
• 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (per diem may have 1-year window)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination by October 31 (mask required if declining)
• COVID vaccination plus 1 booster or approved medical/religious exemption
• Color blindness exam (Ishihara test) required for clinical positions
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years (required for travel nurses)
• Verification of most recent employment and skills checklist annually

Additional Notes

• Single set of Return to Office (RTO) days up to 7 consecutive days will be considered
• Candidate must sign various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments before start
• No local candidates within 50 miles allowed to apply
