Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00 - 7:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work 36 or 48-hour shifts (36 hours/week typical for night shift)
  • Targeted patient ratio: 1:2 in a 36-bed unit
  • Unit involves telemetry, drips, and ventilators
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Floating may be required within nearby campuses (within 15 miles)
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays
  • First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience preferred but not required
  • Overtime paid after 48 hours on 48-hour contracts

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Experience with arterial lines (A-Line), ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and drawing ABGs
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Ohio
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national and multi-state checks, and sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for work and free of communicable diseases
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual update if past positive TB)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months, including marijuana panel
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
  • Annual health questionnaire required
  • Medical questionnaire for respiratory protection required prior to orientation

Documentation & Verification

  • Current resume/application required
  • Two professional references within 2 years (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN) or 1-year work history verification if references unavailable
  • Skills checklist updated within 1 year
  • E-Verify compliance required
  • Proof of name change documentation if applicable
  • Candidate agreement fully completed prior to documentation due date

Additional Notes

  • Agency reserves the right to cancel shifts or contracts with notice
  • Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives
  • No Ohio nursing license required at time of signing contract (can obtain after)
