Job Opportunity: Step Down Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Shift Details

• Day shift, 3 shifts per week
• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications:

  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
• Experience in tracheostomy and ventilator management
• Post-myocardial infarction (Post-MI) care
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Central line and PICC line care and management
• Care of ventilated patients
• Use and management of external CPAP/BIPAP devices
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
• Non-invasive airway management
• Comprehensive tracheostomy care
• Care for cerebrovascular accident (CVA) patients

Experience Notes

• First-time travelers with PCU experience and 1:3-4 ratios will be considered
• Prior travel experience is not required

Work Environment

• Float within areas of competency: med/surg, telemetry, observation
• Minimum 2 weekends per month required (may be more)
• Use of Omnicell medication system
• SBAR communication expected
• 24-hour orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required (not provided)
• No local candidates within 50 miles considered

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID or passport
• Background checks including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Drug screen: 10-panel including THC within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually
• Fit mask testing with approved masks prior to start (no facial hair allowed)
• Immunizations and titers within 90 days of start or as specified:

  • Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • TB testing (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot within 90 days; past positives require CXR and questionnaire)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B titers or vaccines
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination by October 31 (mask required if declined)
  • COVID vaccination plus 1 booster or approved exemption
• Signed acknowledgments for:
