Job Description

Department: 5C Med-Surg Unit
- Focus on general surgery, urology, gynecology, and bariatric surgery.
- Must have experience with Bariatric Surgery, Thyroidectomy, Bowel Obstruction, and Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI).
Patient Ratio: 1:6

Requirements

Minimum Experience: 2 years as a Registered Nurse
Certification Requirements:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Stroke Certification
State License: Indiana RN license required prior to submission.
Floating Requirements: Yes

Additional Information

Effective 11/30/24: Indiana RNs will not be allowed to work at IU Health facilities, with exceptions for certain roles (e.g., Periop/OR RNs).

- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Background Check

- Skills Checklist
- Education Verification
- References (minimum of 2 from recent employment)
- Drug Testing (negative result required within 12 months)
- Vaccination documentation (including Flu vaccination for the 2024-25 season)

Health Documents

Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start date.
TB Testing: Must be completed within 1 year of start date.
Vaccination Requirements:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Flu vaccination documentation required for the 2024-25 season.
