Registered Nurse (MedSurg RN) - North Carolina
Location
- City: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Med-Surg Unit with 23 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Nursing assistants ratio: 1:12
- Common patient types: Surgical patients including orthopedic, general, spinal, and gender reassignment surgeries
- Critical patients are transferred to a larger hospital
Shift & Scheduling
- 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
- Shift hours: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Occasional weekend and holiday shifts as needed
- No call, standby, or floating requirements
- Self-scheduling not specified; block scheduling implied
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year MedSurg RN experience required
- Prior telemetry experience required; must be able to read cardiac strips independently
- Comfortable managing CPAP and BiPAP equipment
- RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips
- No requirement to titrate drips
Equipment
- Respiratory therapy equipment includes BiPAP and CPAP
Orientation
- Unit-specific orientation lasting 2-3 shifts (7 PM to 7 AM)
Dress Code
- RNs wear black scrubs
- Nursing assistants wear grey scrubs
Note: This position does not require prior travel experience beyond the specified clinical experience.
