Job Opportunity: Med/Tele/Swing RN

Location: Valley City, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Department: Med-Tele Acute/Obs and Swingbed
• Number of Beds: 19
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:3-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Pneumonia, rehab, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, GI bleed
• Float Requirements: Must be able to float to Med/Tele Acute/Obs/Swingbed units
• Team Culture: Positive teamwork environment; successful nurses are dependable, caring, knowledgeable, and flexible

Certifications & Skills Required

• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Skills: IV starts, telemetry, NG tube, Foley catheter insertion
• Must be competent with respiratory therapy equipment setup and troubleshooting, including BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Must be able to read telemetry strips independently

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical or Telemetry nursing
• Prior travel experience is not required

Shift & Scheduling

• Shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM, 7 PM - 7 AM, 7 AM - 7 PM (rotating)
• Scheduling: Team scheduling with possible self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirements

Orientation & Additional Details

• Orientation: Typically 3-4 shifts of unit-specific orientation (12-hour shifts)
• Charge Nurse: No charge nurse on each shift
• Nurse Aides/Patient Care Techs: One CNA per shift who handles personal care, vitals, and weights
• Dress Code: Nurses must provide their own scrubs (any color)
• RNs on this floor may be part of the code team

Note: Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Return to Office (RTO) is required within 7 days of contract start.
