Cath Lab RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Cath Lab RN in Carmichael, California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: Days, 10-hour shifts, generally starting at 7:00 AM.
• Hours per week: 40.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California.
• Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year.
• Cardiac Cath Lab (2 years of experience).
• BLS issued by American Heart Association.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association.
• NIHSS.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Driver's License.
• 2 supervisor references at submittal, with 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years worked.
• Copy of driver’s license at time of submittal to validate legal name.
• DYS exam through Relias must be completed within 24–48 hours before signing the contract.

Preferred

• NIHSS.

Unit Details

• Cath Lab unit with 2 suites/labs and 2 beds.
• Will consider candidates who do not scrub.
• Average of 8 cases per day.
• Cerner used for EMR/equipment.
• Charge nurse present.
• Cath lab/IR techs present.
• IV team present.
• RT 24/7.
• Pharmacy 24/7.
• Hospital-provided scrubs.

Call and Scheduling

• RN call required, including weekends.
• Weekend call is minimally every other weekend from Friday 3:30 PM to Monday 7:00 AM.
• Average call days, including weekends, is 12 and can range up to 18 depending on staffing.
• Call response time is 30 minutes.
• Holidays are on call and assigned on a rotating basis.

Clinical Scope

• Cath cases include all cardiac invasive procedures except structural heart.
• Peripheral procedures include carotid, A/V grafts, EVAR, peripheral diagnostic, and peripheral intervention.
• IR cases include peripheral procedures, carotid, A/V grafts, EVAR, peripheral diagnostic, and peripheral intervention.
• No “dirty” procedures such as pegs, g tubes, or nephew tubes.

• Vents: Yes.
• Floating: No.
• Floor-specific orientation depends on skill level, typically 1 or 2 shifts.
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year.
