Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
• 2 years of PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel experience
• 2-5 years of PACU experience

Role Details

• 5 beds
• Phase 1 and Phase 2 care: Phase 1 in PACU; Phase 2 in ACU for pre-op outpatient
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1-2:1
• Common cases include general surgery, ortho totals and minor cases, ENT, uro, gyne, C/S, and podiatry
• EMR: Meditech
• RNs read strips
• 9 or 10 hour day shifts
• Schedule is set 4 weeks in advance for 6 weeks
• No self-scheduling
• Average 1 weeknight of call per week
• Average 1 weekend of call every 5-6 weekends
• Holiday call coverage required
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Floating includes pre-op holding room support
• Scrubs provided
• Department orientation: 1-2 weeks with preceptor

Additional Notes

• ICU patients may occasionally recover in PACU if intubated, then are transported back to ICU after OR
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Travelers with previous employment at any FHN Memorial location must disclose it for a DNU check
