Float Pool RN - Intensive Care Unit

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky Employment Type: Clinical, Nursing Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: 3x12 hours (7p-7a), weekend and holiday rotation Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week

Role Overview

The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the whole patient, with a focus on healing and wellness. This posting uses the ICU job description while a Float Pool RN description is pending, so candidates should be screened against the requirements below. Nurses float between ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and PCU and must be comfortable caring for patients of varying acuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments, develop problem lists, and implement individualized care plans
• Provide nursing rounds, treatments, and bedside shift report, with hourly patient rounding
• Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities, including patient and family education
• Recognize and communicate changes in patient condition and prioritize care as needs change
• Delegate tasks and oversee team members' patient care activities
• Participate in unit quality improvement activities, such as patient falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, and documentation audits

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Float experience of at least 1 year, with float experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling over 35 lbs, frequent walking, repetitive motion and bending, and color discrimination for clinical cues
• Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, sharps, and airborne infectious diseases
• Adherence to infection-control protocols and patient privacy and confidentiality requirements
