Telemetry Technician - New York, NY
Job Summary
Provide advanced ECG monitoring by assessing patient status through ECG strip analysis and arrhythmia interpretation. Identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiate codes, record rhythms during codes, perform continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, troubleshoot monitoring problems, and respond appropriately to all monitor alarms.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform electrocardiograms in multiple settings, including proper electrode placement.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
- Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
- Retrieve laboratory results and notify the charge nurse as needed.
- Ensure documentation meets current standards and organizational policies.
- Safely manage and operate monitoring and medical equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Telemetry Technician, including experience within the last year.
- Active Telemetry Technician Certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Red Cross.
- Completion of a Dysrhythmia Course.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
