Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, day/night variable (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• May float to all inpatient units as needed
• On-call/call-back with minimum 2-hour call-back pay during low census

Unit Information

• Observation Unit / Inpatient
• 8-bed unit with 2 RNs per shift
• Patient ratio: 1:4
• High admission and discharge volume
• Patient conditions include anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-op, urology, GI issues
• Drip medications include Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin
• Average patient stay up to 48 hours

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certifications (EKG exam required during compliance)
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in specialty
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Experience with EPIC charting system
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips

• Positive attitude and flexibility with frequent shift changes

Additional Information

• Must be located outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• During flu season, flu and COVID vaccination is required or mask must be worn at all times per facility policy
• Low census hours (up to 36) are unbillable but call-back pay applies if called in during these hours

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with a strong background in intermediate care and observation units, comfortable with variable shifts and high patient turnover.
