Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Must have an accredited nursing degree through ACEN or CCNE.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA only; AHA RQI acceptable).
  • Float required.
  • Solid black scrubs required.
  • Return to Office (RTO) requests allowed up to 7 days maximum; candidates exceeding this will be rejected.
  • Block schedules may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis (indicate interest in comments).
  • Interviews are required.

Required Credentials and Documentation

Certifications

  • BLS (AHA only) – Required for submission.
  • ACLS (AHA only) – Required for submission.

Licenses

  • Nursys License – Required within 30 days of start; must be repeated if there is a break in service of 30 days or more.
  • License/Certificate Verification – Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start; must include state-specific registry.

Personal Health History

  • Fit Test – Required for all patient-facing roles; must be current within one year.
  • Health Statement – Pre-employment physical within one year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine – Fully vaccinated required prior to start; medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case.
  • MMR – Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B – Titer or complete vaccine series required; signed declinations accepted.
  • Influenza Vaccine – Required October-April; medical or religious exemptions require agency approval and documentation.
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – Negative results required; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella – Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap – Within 10 years; optional but recommended.
  • Annual TB Questionnaire – Must be completed, signed, and dated on facility form.
  • Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray – If applicable, chest x-ray within 1 year plus completed TB questionnaire required.

Professional Requirements

  • Driver's License/State ID – Valid government-issued photo ID required.
  • Summa RN Submission Packet – Must be completed and signed by candidate and agency for submission.
  • Summa Work Order Confirmation – Required once offer is accepted.
  • Social Security Card – Must provide Social Security Card or SSN.

Testing and Competency

  • Summa Competency Exam – Unit-specific clinical competency exam required; passing score required and must be current within one year.
  • Summa Skills Checklist – Unit-specific skills checklist required annually.
  • Summa EKG Exam, Telemetry Exam – Passing score of 80% or higher required; must be current within one year.
  • Summa Pharmacology Exam – Optional.
  • Summa Core Competencies – Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; must be completed within 90 days of start and updated annually.

Background and Screening

  • Summa Drug Screen – Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; must be updated annually.
  • Summa Criminal Background Check – FCRA compliant 7-year search plus SSN trace and nationwide checks; must be run within 90 days of start.
  • Summa OIG Search – Must be run within 90 days of start.
  • Summa EPLS (Exclusions List) – Must be run within 90 days of start.
  • Summa Education Verification – Third-party verification required.

Additional Notes

  • All required documents and verifications must be current and updated annually or as specified.
  • Breaks in service of 30 days or more require re-verification of certain credentials and screenings.
  • Candidates must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
