Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2 years of current Registered Nurse experience required.
- Experience in a large hospital setting required.
- Must have 3 to 6 months experience in Level IV Trauma or above.
- Position is in a 23-bed Emergency Room.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required.
- Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
- Schedule typically follows a 36/48 shift pattern over a two-week pay period.
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
- Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility.
- Driver’s license required.
Required Certifications
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card (required for ER)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Competency exams including Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG (within 1 year), and Core Parts I, II, and III
Required Licenses
- Valid Kentucky RN license or compact RN license.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Current certifications including ACLS, BLS, PALS (all issued by the American Heart Association), TNCC, CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience working in a large hospital setting.
- Trauma care experience.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Annual physical exam or physician’s note stating clearance to work.
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test) within 1 year.
- Up-to-date immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Fit mask test completed onsite (PAPRs not accommodated).
- Background checks including national and county searches, sex offender registry, and others as required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and attestations prior to start.
- Scheduling and assignment confirmation must be completed promptly.
- Candidates should not be submitted for multiple jobs simultaneously.
