Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Manager role overseeing nursing operations. The position involves supervising all units across the hospital during off hours, driving patient throughput to sustain care and flow in the Emergency Department, and maintaining communication and collaboration for hospital events. The role requires floating across units as needed.

Shift Details

• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Experience

• Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• First-time travelers are accepted, but experience is highly preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred
• Chemotherapy Certification: Preferred (ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate for adults)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, PALS, NRP) but are not mandatory for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee hospital operations during off hours
• Manage patient flow and bed management basics, especially in the Emergency Department
• Collaborate with administrative operations center for hospital events
• Float across all hospital units as needed

License Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey

Additional Requirements

• Must submit all time-off requests with application and receive approval before offer
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs or business casual
• Must complete required background checks and health screenings prior to start
• Must complete required competency exams and pass orientation testing (e.g., medication, EKG, IV therapy)
• Must complete respiratory medical clearance and fit testing prior to start
• Must comply with annual influenza vaccination or approved exemption
• Must provide proof of negative drug screen within 30 days of start
• Must provide proof of required immunizations and titers (e.g., TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap)
• Must complete annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation requirements

Documentation and Compliance

• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
• Two professional references within the last 2 years (one managerial)
• Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions
• Verification of licensure and certifications
• Completion of required competency exams within 72 hours of contract start
• Completion of safety and compliance training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of House Supervisor experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Emergency Department (ED) experience
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
