Job Description

• Start Date: ASAP
• Floating Expectation: No
• Patient Ratios: 1:20
• Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation plus meeting department needs
• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years acute care hospital case management experience, specifically in care coordination and discharge planning. Hospital experience is mandatory.
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted (clinical will screen first-time travelers)
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
• License Requirement: California RN license required. Pending license accepted only if licensed by start date.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including acute hospital case management
• Case management experience within the last year
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Discharge planning experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Fire Card

Competencies and Training

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists (updated annually)
• Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
• Specialty-specific competency exams (e.g., Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring for L&D RNs)

Facility and System Specific Requirements

• Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules including:

  • Annual Regulatory Requirements
  • Specialty Specific Modules (ER, L&D, Leadership roles, Hospice/Home Health/Assisted Living)
  • Regional Core and Specialty Modules based on location and specialty
• Epic Access training modules (if applicable)
• Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)
• Compliance with Providence float policy (acknowledgement required)

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers accepted; no explicit prior travel experience required

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Registered Nurse Case Manager with at least 2 years of acute care hospital case management experience in California. The role requires a valid CA RN license, weekend availability, and completion of various certifications, background checks, health screenings, and Providence-specific training modules.
