Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must be aware of and pass a medication exam at orientation (one attempt only; failure results in contract cancellation). Study materials provided.

• Must have scrub experience to be considered.

• Must be able to circulate and scrub in multiple specialty areas including:

  • Transplant (Liver and Kidney)
  • Endovascular and vascular emergencies
  • Neuro, Trauma, MVA, Gunshot, and stabbings
  • Circulate hearts
  • General surgery
  • Pediatrics
  • Microbiology

• Call rotation: 1 night every third weekend

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge
• Experience in Transplant, Endoscopy, Vascular Surgery, Neurology, Trauma, and Pediatrics

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued ID required.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific clearances required.
• Health documents required within specified timeframes:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
  • Immunizations or declinations for TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Flu, COVID-19, and others as applicable. Declinations may not be accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU.
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start.
• Annual updates may be required for some documents and background checks.
• References: 2 references within the last 3 years.
• Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared for a rigorous orientation process including pass/fail exams.
• This role requires flexibility to work in a variety of surgical specialties and emergency situations.
• Call schedule requires availability for night shifts every third weekend.

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with strong scrub and circulating skills across multiple surgical specialties, who are comfortable with travel assignments and meeting strict compliance and credentialing requirements.
