Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - Nights (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina

Job Details
- Shift: Nights
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule applies)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Work Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, contracted shifts are guaranteed
- Patient Population: Must be comfortable working with both adults and children in ICU settings
- Additional Notes:
- Nights, weekends, and holidays required
- Must be comfortable working with pediatric and adult patients
- Only 4 days allowed off (RTO) and no holidays off
- All callouts for scheduled shifts require makeup shifts as deemed necessary
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- At least 2 years of experience in Critical Care Respiratory Therapy (CRT)
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
Required Certifications & Licenses
- State Respiratory Therapist License (valid and not expiring the month of start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Military only; must be current at start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Military only; must be current at start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for applicable units; must be current at start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for applicable units; must be current at start
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG/Medication with a minimum score of 80% (3 attempts allowed)
- Acknowledgment of Pass/Fail Testing required for ICU and other specified units
Background & Health Requirements
- Background check required within 6 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by a physician, NP, or PA-C
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- TDAP (within last 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption (medical or religious)
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted

- Facility is a short-term acute care hospital with Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital status
- Total staffed beds: 733
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Solid black or black and white
- Orientation typically occurs on Monday and includes meeting with unit representatives and schedule distribution
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge: Professional passport-style photo required (no large earrings, face jewelry, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
- Completion of various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., confidentiality agreement, emergency contact form, code of conduct)
- Parking registration required if driving to work
- Completion of mandatory modules prior to start (due Monday before start date)
