Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM (Evening shift)
Hours: 40 hours per week (5 days x 8 hours)


Job Description

  • Position is for an Ultrasound Technician in a free-standing Emergency Department (ED) outpatient imaging setting.
  • On-call required with rotating call schedule.
  • No floating to other units or sister facilities.
  • Locals accepted.
  • Block scheduling accommodations at manager’s discretion.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of ultrasound technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Ultrasound procedure experience required in:
    • General ultrasound
    • OB/GYN
    • Renal/pelvis
    • Abdomen
    • Vascular-carotid
  • Vascular procedure experience required in:
    • Doppler studies
    • Peripheral vascular
    • Upper/lower extremity venous
    • M-mode ultrasound
  • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) experience required.
  • Samsung ultrasound scanner experience preferred.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider card required.
  • RDMS-OB (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics)
  • Must hold a permanent Virginia state license for Radiology Techs (temporary licenses not accepted for this setting).
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
  • Background checks including lifetime criminal, education verification, and federal/state registries required.
  • Drug testing within 30 days prior to start required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start required.
  • Fit mask (N95) certification required and must be updated annually.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable.
  • Immunization or immunity documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31) or approved medical/religious exemption.
  • COVID vaccination documentation required or declination on file.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific documents including:
    • Code of Conduct Acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality and Security Agreement
    • Epic Experience Screening Form (time sensitive)
    • Orientation Packet & Acknowledgement Form
    • WorkRamp Modules (time sensitive; approx. 8 hours)
    • Job Description form
  • Two professional references required:
    • One from current year of assignment
    • One within last 2 years
    • References must be from supervisors or equivalent who directly supervised the candidate (outside of this facility if previously worked here).
  • Employment application and work history verification (2 years minimum) required.
  • Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates.
