Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Home Health

Location

  • Walla Walla, Washington

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Day shift, Monday to Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8 hours)
  • 40 hours per week

Job Description

  • Specialty: Home Health Therapy/Rehabilitation
  • Average caseload: 5-7 patients per day (geriatric cases)
  • Territory: Up to a 60-mile radius from the office/hub; flexibility with territory expected
  • Productivity: 30 points weekly required
  • Documentation and communication must be timely
  • Dress code: Scrubs (any color), no jeans
  • iPad provided for work; cell phone use not allowed during work
  • Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
  • On-call: No
  • First-time travel therapists not accepted
  • Locals accepted at travel rate

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Washington
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Physical Therapy Assistant experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks within 90 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County searches (last 7 years)
    • FACIS Level 1
    • Nationwide Sex Offender
    • Motor Vehicle Records/Driver’s Record
    • Education verification (highest degree related to profession)
    • Employment history verification (7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
  • Fingerprinting required if candidate has not lived in Washington for the past 3 years (completed on-site)
  • State-specific criminal history and employability status checks as applicable
  • Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (updated annually)
  • Agency background attestation required prior to start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within the last 12 months (physician statement)
  • Fit mask test (N95 accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire if positive TB history)
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 12 months (instant acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required annually
  • COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of current auto insurance required (due to driving responsibilities)
  • Two professional references within 2 years of start (travel, allied, per diem acute care)
  • Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps in employment application
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

This position is ideal for experienced PTAs with home health expertise who are comfortable working independently within a flexible travel territory and meeting productivity and documentation standards.
