Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER

Location: Cookeville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Patient Ratio: 1:5

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Job Details

• Must be able to work weekends as needed; schedule to be coordinated with the director
• No on-call requirement
• Pass/Fail Arrhythmia and Medication competency tests administered on the first day; two attempts allowed
• Advanced Arrhythmia test required for ICU, CVICU, and Cardiac Cath Lab units (if applicable)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated with contract renewals
• Education verification required (diploma/transcript acceptable as placeholder)
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Completion of employment application/resume and skills checklist

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccinations; booster if low titer
• Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
• Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccinations
• Seasonal Flu vaccine required between October 31 and March 31; declination form and mask required if declined
• COVID vaccine accepted as seasonal COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination form

Orientation and Facility-Specific Requirements

• Review and sign Nursing Orientation materials for travel nurses prior to start
• Acknowledge Pass/Fail testing policies
• Review Nurse Resource Guide and Restraint Seclusion Policy prior to start
• Completion of facility-specific forms such as Flu Declination and Med Surg Agreement (if applicable)

• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during shifts
• Documentation and certifications must be current and verifiable
• Candidates with over 1 year of prior work with the facility must have performance evaluations on file

This position offers a structured night shift schedule with a defined patient ratio and requires a nurse with solid ER experience and prior travel contract history. Compliance with all background, health, and certification requirements is mandatory.
