Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Acute Care facility with Adult Trauma Level II designation
- 132 staffed beds
- Shift options: Day (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) or Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend, flexible to support facility needs
- Holiday work required (dates determined by unit, no requests for specific holidays)
- No shift preference allowed; travelers have a 4-day window to switch or find coverage before schedule finalization
- Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed
- No local candidates accepted (must not reside in Guam)
- Travelers must have passport in hand prior to start
- Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should plan accordingly
- Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census fluctuations
- Parking is free; vehicle registration with HR required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Registered Nurse experience in Emergency Department (ED)
- Valid RN license for Guam or Compact RN license in hand at time of application (pending licenses not accepted)
- Current US passport (Canadian passports not accepted)
- Certifications (must have digital provider cards; printed or screenshots not accepted):
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- PALS (American Heart Association only)
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Advanced level, completed in full prior to start
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (required for RNs)
- Conscious Sedation Certification (required for ER)
- Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Pediatrics 2.0 Training (required for ER)
- Facility-specific mandatory trainings and competencies:
- Pressure Injury Training (NPIAP/NDNQI)
- Alaris IV Pumps Certification
- Pyxis CareFusion Certification
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams (onsite, pen and paper, must pass with 80% or higher)
- Background checks within 1 year prior to start, including 7-year criminal history and international checks if applicable
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start (annual TB questionnaire if past positive)
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (specific N95 masks required; PAPR must be provided by candidate if needed)
- Physical exam (not required by facility but required by agency)
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (born 1957 or later require proof of immunity or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (immune titer or vaccine series)
- Varicella (immune titer or 2 vaccines or history of chickenpox)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions considered with facility form)
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form
- Professional references:
- 2 references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within last 3 years)
- Work history verification for last 10 years required
Additional Information
- Travelers must arrive no later than the Thursday before the start date due to long travel times and time zone differences
- Charting system used: Allscripts/Sunrise
- Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; solid colors acceptable; jacket color flexible
- Facility will not cover fees for required certifications such as Conscious Sedation
- Travelers will be scheduled through the last day of the contract and should not book return flights before contract completion
- Return to Office (RTO) limits: No more than 3 consecutive days off and a maximum of 7 days off during the 13-week contract
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses who are flexible, able to work required weekends and holidays, and prepared for a fast-paced acute care trauma environment in Guam.
